Trias disciflora Rolfe 1896

25/09/2010

Trias disciflora (Rolfe) Rolfe1896 is an epiphytic growing miniature orchid species, native to Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. The British botanist Robert Allen Rolfe (1855–1921)
named this orchid primarily Bulbophyllum disciflorum, which is still accepted as a synonym and changed the name a year later to Trias disciflora. Flowers get a size of about 2 cm. Flowering period: January. Trias disciflora orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical, miniature orchid requires intermediate to warm temperatures and a location in full shade. Plants should be kept moisrt, but not wet, during growth season. Waterings should be restricted during dormancy, allow the potting medium to dry out slightly between waterings.
