Aerides Orchids

Aerides is an orchid genus, containg about 28 orchid species with mostly, highly fragrant flowers. The epiphytic growing Aerides orchid genus has been established by the Portuguese botanist, Jesuit missionary, paleontologist and physician João de Loureiro (1717 – 1791) in the year 1790. Aerides orchids are widely spread over Asia, especially South East Asia. The abbreviation in horticultural trade is: Aer.
