Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand was born at 12.08.1932
in Bangkok , Thailand. While she studied at a music academy in Paris,
Queen Sirikit met His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej,
who had ascended to the throne at that time and was studying in Switzerland.
At 28.04.1950 His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej married Queen Sirikit
and they became a dream couple in the fiftieth.
Both the King and the Queen are big supporters for any kind of botany,
while The King is more involved in agricultural projects,
his wife Queen Sirikit is supporting the research and conservation
of the plants of Thailand and is one of the biggest
supporters of Orchidaceae (Orchids) in Thailand.
Under their Majesties reign Thailand became
one of the top exporters of orchids in the world,
with an annual volume of more than 2 Billion Thai Baht.

To celebrate the birthday of H.M. Queen Sirikit (12. August),
which is also the mother´s day in Thailand,
there is an orchid and plant show in Chiang Mai, North Thailand,
from the 11.08.2010 – 15.08.2010 at the Buak Hat park.
