Orchid Hybrid Calanthe Rozel Red Velvet

Calanthe Rozel Red Velvet, also called Calanthe Rozel Cardinal, is a terrestrial growing, deciduous orchid hybrid, a crossing between the Calanthe hybrids Calanthe Grouville (seed parent) and Calanthe Saint Aubin (pollen parent).



Calanthe Rozel has been registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in the year 1993 by the Eric Young Orchid Foundation, an orchid nursery at Victoria Village, Trinity, Jersey, Channel Islands. The Foundation was established in 1958 by Eric Young and houses one of the finest collections of orchids in the world. The velvet red flowers of the orchid hybrid get a length of about 5 cm. Flowering period: Winter - Spring. Deciduous Calanthe orchids should kept constantly moist after new growths appears in the spring, whilst leaves start to get yellow in autumn, watering should be restricted and the potting medium should dry out between waterings.
