31/01/2012

The green Phalaenopsis orchid Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi var. alba is an albino variant of the Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi (Breda) Blume & Rchb.f.1860. We found that outstanding Phalaenopsis orchid in the orchid shop of our friends and supporters Phrao Orchids in Chiang Mai, North Thailand. The unusual looking and fragrant green orchid has been cultured by themselves. Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi are native to India, Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Flowers get a size of about 4 cm. Flowering period: July – August.
A red Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi variant: Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi f. sanguinea Christenson 2001.
