Paphiopedilum Vanda M. Pearman

05/08/2012

Paphiopedilum Vanda M. Pearman is a lady slipper orchid hybrid, a crossing between the species orchids Paphiopedilum bellatulum (seed parent), native to Thailand and Paphiopedilum delenatii (pollen parent), native to Vietnam.

The primary orchid hybrid Paphiopedilum Vanda M. Pearman has been registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in the year 1939 by S.Farnes. This stunning, terrestrially growing lady slipper hybrid is best cultivated in intermediate to warm temperatures and low to medium light. As against many other lady slipper orchids, which prefer a humid habitat, the Paph. Vanda M. Pearman hybrid requires more dryness, especially in winter. The potting medium should dry out between waterings. The white flowers with burgundy spots get a size of about 10 cm across. Flowering period: Spring - Summer.
