Cassia javanica L. 1753, commonly called Pink Shower, Rainbow Shower, Java Cassia or Apple Blossom Tree, is a fast-growing, flowering tree, native to Indonesia.
The pink shower tree belongs to the legume family (Fabaceae) and reach heights up to about 12 meters. Before the tropical tree starts to flower, it drops its leaves. Flowers, which get a size of about 4 cm in diameter, open in pink color, but change to white whilst mature. Flowering period: Spring. Pink Shower trees are widely cultivated as shade and ornamental trees along streets and in parks in many tropical and subtropical countries around the world. The Cassia javanica flower is the provincial flower of the Chainat Province in Central Thailand. The impressive, tropical tree is best cultivated in full sun, has average water needs, but isn`t hardy, means it doesn`t tolerate freezing temperatures below 2°C.
