Staurochilus fasciatus Ridl. 1896 is a large, epiphytic growing orchid species, native to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Inflorescences get a length of about 15 cm and carry up to 8 long-lasting, fragrant flowers. Single flowers get a size of about 5 cm. Flowering period: April - May. The tropical orchid beauty requires a warm to hot, humid climate and a shady place. The plant is best cultivated in a hanging basket with sphagnum moss or coconut fiber, which should never dry out completely. Some sources recommend fir bark as well. Staurochilus fasciatus orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
