Calanthe cardioglossa Schltr. 1906, commonly called The Heart Shaped Lip Calanthe is a terrestrial growing orchid species, native to Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.
The tropical orchid grows at elevations from 400 - 1900 meters. The impressive, but small flowers get a size of just about 2,5 cm. Flowering period: November - February. Calanthe cardioglossa orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The terrestrial orchid requires intermediate - warm temperatures, a shady location and should be watered regularly. There are also white and light pink color variations around.
