Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum J.J.Smith 1900

The Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum J.J.Sm. 1900 orchid species has been discovered in the Pegunungan Mountains in east Java, Indonesia in 1897.


The terrestrial growing lady slipper orchid Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum is native to Sumatra and Java. The spectacular flowers can reach a size of about 8 - 10 cm. Flowering period: Spring.
Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix I (threatened with extinction, trade only in exceptional circumstances). The tropical lady slipper orchid requires intermediate - warm temperatures and bright light. Waterings should be restricted during autumn
to induce flowering.
