Bulbophyllum helenae J.J. Sm. 1912

02/11/2010

The stinky flowered Bulbophyllum helenae J.J. Sm. 1912 is an epiphytic
or lithophytic growing miniature orchid species, native to the Himalayas, India (Sikkim),
Nepal, Burma ( Myanmar) and Thailand. Unfortunatly, the cute Bulbophyllum helenae flowers
have an unpleasant smell like rotten flesh, which attracts insects.
Flowers get a length of about 4 cm and can vary in colours from yellow to red.
Flowering period: Summer
