The Giant Water Lily (Nymphaea gigantea Hook.1852) is worthy of the name as the flower is one of the biggest flowers in the plant kingdom. Giant water lily flowers reach a size up to 30 cm in diameter, leaves get a size up to 70 cm and the stems raise the attractive, white flowers about 35 cm above the water surface. The Giant Waterlily (Nymphaea gigantea) is native to Australia and most parts of the plant are also edible. We found this imposing aquatic plant in Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden, near our hometown, Chiang Mai, North Thailand.
