Graphorkis concolor (Thouars) Kuntze 1891

05/05/2013

Graphorkis concolor (Thouars) Kuntze 1891 is an epiphytic, on Raphia palms and mango trees growing orchid species, native to Madagascar, the Comoros, the Seychelles
and the Mascarene islands (Mauritius, Réunion and Rodrigues).

Graphorkis Thouars 1809, abbreviated Grks. in horticultural trade, is a small orchid genus with just about 4 known species, all native to tropical Africa. The impressive, but small Graphorkis concolor flowers get a size of just about 1,5 cm in diameter. Flowering period: Spring - Summer. Graphorkis concolor orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The rare tropical orchid requires a hot and humid climate and a location in partial shade - full shade.
