Ceratostylis retisquama Rchb.f 1857, also called Ceratostylis rubra Ames 1910, which is accepted as a synonym, is an epiphytic growing small sized orchid from the Philippines. The plant is blooming all around the year, but the beautiful orange coloured flowers are transient. Ceratostylis retisquama flowers get a size of about 2,5 cm. Ceratostylis retisquama (Ceratostylis rubra) orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical orchid species requires warm - hot temperatures and a location in partial shade. Plants should be kept moist, but not wet to avoid root rot.
