The Phalaenopsis braceana (Hook. f.) Christenson 1986 orchid species has been primarily named by Joseph Dalton Hooker, the son of the great English botanist William Jackson Hooker as Doritis braceana Hook. f. 1890 and has been reclassified by the American botanist Eric A. Christenson (born 1956).

The epiphytic growing Phalaenopsis braceana is native to the Himalayas, Bhutan, Myanmar (formerly Burma), South China (Yunnan) and Vietnam. Sepals and petals can vary in colour from yellow and green to a dark-red brown. Flowers get a size of about 2,5 - 3 cm in diameter. Flowering period: March - August. Phalaenopsis braceana orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical miniature orchid requires a intermediate – warm, humid climate and a location in shade - partial shade.
Plants should be kept moist, but not wet.
