The Hoya brevialata Kleijn & van Donkelaar 2001 waxflower,
found only in Sulawesi (former Celebes), an island in Indonesia,
is rated as a weed there.
Hoya brevialata is often found in a symbiotic partnership with ants,
as the plant grows from ant nests.
The Hoya brevialata flowers has a slight caramel-like fragrance.
